Petey Brown, a tough torch singer, returns home and discovers family trouble: her sister, brother and the neighbour’s wife are all tangled with corrupt nightclub owner Nicky Toresca. Though Petey can handle Nicky, she meets San Thomas, a once‑renowned jazz pianist now on the skids, and falls for him, testing resolve as stakes rise.
