The Loud family decides to spend a week in Scotland to explore their royal lineage. They anticipate a whirlwind journey filled with legends and new connections. Lincoln and the sisters are excited by the idea of stepping into their ancestry.

During their journey to Loch Loud, the family embarks on a series of wild transportation adventures, including parachuting from a cargo hold, flying in a hot air balloon, and riding in a submarine. The stunts foreshadow the extraordinary events to come. The chaotic start shows the Louds' willingness to take risks for family history.

Lori's phone call with her boyfriend Bobby Santiago Jr. reveals a faulty signal in Loch Loud. Mistakenly thinking Lori ended things, Bobby travels to Scotland to find her. The personal subplot adds pressure to an already extraordinary family trip.

The Louds arrive in the Scottish town of Loch Loud and meet a local boy named Scott, who helps guide them. Leni develops a crush, while villagers hint that the family might be descended from Scottish royalty. They are led to a castle overseen by Angus and Morag.

Angus the groundskeeper shows the Louds a painting of their ancestors that resembles them. He explains they once ruled Loch Loud before sailing away, reigniting Lincoln's dream of greatness. Morag, the caretaker, watches the family with growing tension.

The painting and Angus's story reveal that Lincoln's family once held a royal title. Lincoln resolves to become the new Duke by helping restore the town's former glory. He begins undertaking community service across Loch Loud.

Morag hatches a scheme to get the family to leave Loch Loud forever. She discovers magical tools like a Dragon Stone and a royal scepter to influence events. Her plan relies on manipulating the town and turning it against the Louds.

Morag tricks Lincoln into riding Lela, the baby dragon, to draw attention. While on the dragon, Morag uses the gemstone and scepter to hypnotize Lela into destroying the town. Lincoln feels blamed for the chaos and urges the family to return home.

Lucille Loud, the ghost of an ancestor, explains Morag's scheme to the family. Realizing the danger, the Louds decide to travel back to Royal Woods to stop Morag. They sail back toward Loch Loud on a rowboat, determined to save the village.

Back at Loch Loud, the sisters reclaim the scepter and, with Lincoln's magic and Lily's help, destroy the Dragon Stone. Lela breaks free from Morag's control, turning the tide of the battle. Morag is defeated and dropped on an island filled with noisy seals, ending her reign.

The villagers thank Lincoln for saving Loch Loud, and he is offered the duchy. He declines the title, suggesting Angus take the crown instead. The ghostly ancestors approve of his choice, affirming his importance as the family caretaker.

With Loch Loud restored, the Louds help repair the town and bid farewell to Angus and the villagers. They set sail back to Royal Woods, grateful for the adventure and their strengthened family bonds. The trip leaves them with memories of Scotland that will stay with them.

Back in Royal Woods, Bobby arrives to reunite with Lori but finds that she has already left Scotland. Clyde greets Lincoln with duke-themed cream puffs, celebrating his new-found sense of value beyond being one of Lori's siblings. The family returns to their routine, carrying the legendary Loch Loud experience with them.
