Maloin, a guard at a maritime station, spends nights in the port’s signal box. He witnesses a murder over a smuggled suitcase; the first attacker drowns, the second escapes. Rather than call police, Maloin dives in, retrieves the case and finds over three million in small bills, dragging him into a perilous scramble.
