Upon arrival, Sedgwick is at least as lazy as Pa, if not worse, and he has kept his fiancé Bedelia Baines Una Merkel waiting for 20 years to marry him. Ma is determined to nudge Sedgwick toward the altar, determined to see the wedding that has long eluded the family patriarch. The situation is complicated by Sedgwick’s decision to rent out his barn to three men who have “Gangster” written all over them, as they operate an illegal moonshine liquor still in the barn.
