   U.N.C.L.E. agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin are attacked by THRUSH while traveling to see Dr. Simon True. The assault signals THRUSH's interest in True's discovery and sets the stakes for the mission. The incident shows the danger surrounding the search for the gold-from-seawater formula.

   Dr. True dies during his presentation

   Dr. True unveils a process to extract gold from seawater. He is poisoned by THRUSH operative Randolph during the presentation. Before dying, True cryptically reveals that his daughter holds the key to finding the formula.

   The true family clue revealed

   It turns out Dr. True has four step-daughters and one biological daughter, Sandy True. He scattered clues among them that, when assembled, will unlock the full formula. The UNCLE team resolves to locate Sandy to piece the puzzle together.

   Amanda True is murdered by THRUSH

   Amanda, Dr. True's widow, is having an affair with Randolph, but he uses THRUSH to kill her. They murder her to sever access to True's notes. Solo and Kuryakin find her body and vow to pursue Sandy and the sisters.

   Sandy recruited and mission expands

   Solo and Kuryakin recruit Sandy True and set out to locate True's step-sisters. The search spans Europe as they gather clues from scattered photographs. Sandy's involvement hints she may hold the key to unlocking the formula.

   Rome rescue: Margo De Fanzini

   In Rome, Margo De Fanzini is kept captive by Count Valeriano De Fanzini who married her for her money. Solo and Kuryakin rescue her with Sandy's help while fighting Randolph and THRUSH agents who follow. The Count and Margo reconcile and provide UNCLE with a photograph of Dr. True alongside part of the formula.

   The UNCLE team analyzes Margo's photo and determines it represents one-quarter of the full formula. They head to London to pursue the next clue. In London, Imogen Smythe's arrest leads them to a nightclub confrontation with Randolph and THRUSH.

   At Imogen Smythe's nightclub, the team battles THRUSH agents and Randolph. Sandy discovers another photo of her father in Imogen's dressing room, this time with a different formula in the background. The escape is aided by the local constables who intervene.

   Swiss Alps: Yvonne and the ski pursuit

   The search moves to the Swiss Alps where Yvonne, True's step-sister, lives in a hotel and is pressured over debts. Randolph pays her debt to secure the photo and tries to press her for the image. Solo and Kuryakin fight THRUSH agents on skis as Sandy locates another photo and Yvonne reconciles with her boyfriend Carl von Kessen.

    Jet interception and betrayal

    Randolph intercepts the UNCLE party on a private jet, seizes the three photos, and parachutes out, leaving Solo, Kuryakin, and Sandy for dead. Sandy frees the two agents from their bonds, and they manage a daring plane landing to escape. The team continues toward the final confrontation with THRUSH.

    The Japanese lullaby clue and kidnap

    The fourth photo is published in a magazine, but its letters rearrange to spell 'Japanese Lullaby'. Sandy recalls a Japanese lullaby from childhood, which points to the next clue. THRUSH kidnaps Sandy and transports her to Japan to recover the formula.

    Japan: escape and recovery of the formula

    With help from Solo and Kuryakin, Sandy escapes in Japan and locates the Japanese man who safeguarded the formula. The team retrieves the final formula, but Randolph and other THRUSH agents pursue them and seize the document.

    THRUSH pole facility sabotage

    Randolph brings the captives to THRUSH's polar facility reconfigured to manufacture gold from seawater. Solo and Kuryakin escape their cell using explosives hidden in Solo's shoelaces and sabotage the plant, destroying the gold-making machinery. Randolph is killed, covered in gold dust in the process.

14. 14

    London double wedding finale

    Solo, Kuryakin, Sandy, geisha Reikko, and UNCLE head to London to attend the double wedding of Imogen with the constable and Yvonne with Carl. The Count and Contessa attend, and UNCLE has funded the weddings in the absence of a father, tying up the True family's affairs.
