Xi and his San tribe live peacefully in the Kalahari Desert, far removed from the industrial world. Their existence is characterized by simplicity and harmony with nature, which forms the foundation of their cultural identity.

An unsuspecting pilot throws a glass Coca-Cola bottle from an airplane, and it lands intact among the San tribe. Initially seen as a divine gift, the bottle quickly becomes a source of curiosity and a variety of practical uses within the tribe.

As the tribe begins to utilize the Coca-Cola bottle, it stirs unexpected tensions among the members. This growing discord escalates as they grapple with the implications of possessing a single prized object.

In light of the turmoil caused by the bottle, Xi resolves to embark on a journey to dispose of it. He believes that returning it to the world's edge is the only way to restore peace within his tribe.

During his journey, Xi meets Andrew Steyn, a biologist studying wildlife, and Kate Thompson, a passionate former journalist teaching in a nearby village. Their interactions introduce cultural exchanges that are both enlightening and challenging.

Xi and his new companions face a tense situation when a group of guerrillas, led by Sam Boga, becomes involved in violent activities following a failed assassination attempt. Their actions create a dangerous backdrop against which Xi must navigate.

As Steyn and Thompson grow closer, a series of blunders occur, including their Land Rover getting stuck while crossing a river. These moments lead to comical misunderstandings and highlight the romantic tension between Steyn and Thompson.

In a fateful turn, Xi attempts to tranquilize a goat but ends up getting arrested instead. His situation draws M'pudi's assistance, who advocates for Xi’s skills to be utilized rather than punished.

As part of his deal to reduce his prison time, Xi begins to learn how to drive Steyn's Land Rover. This moment signifies a crucial step in the merging of cultures between Xi and the outsiders he has met.

Amid growing chaos, the guerrillas invade Thompson's school, taking hostages in their attempt to escape. The situation escalates as Steyn, M'pudi, and Xi closely monitor the events using a telescope.

Xi utilizes his skills with a miniature bow to create tranquilizer darts, assisting in subduing several guerrillas. The team's coordinated efforts and Xi's ingenuity play a crucial role in the situation's resolution.

Through clever tactics and bravery, Steyn, M'pudi, and Xi manage to thwart the guerrillas' plans and rescue the hostages. This victory strengthens the bond between the characters, showcasing their growth as allies.

After serving his term, Xi receives compensation for his contributions but is puzzled by the paper currency. His initial misunderstanding reflects the cultural gaps still present despite the events that have unfolded.

As Steyn attempts to express his clumsiness to Thompson, he inadvertently endears himself to her, culminating in a heartfelt kiss. This moment reflects the evolving relationships amidst the chaos of their adventure.

In the concluding moments of his journey, Xi reaches God's Window, a mist-shrouded summit he believes is the edge of the world. He releases the divisive Coca-Cola bottle over the cliff, symbolizing a return to simplicity and connection with his roots.
