Plot Summary
Following the sudden and devastating murder-suicide of their parents, twin sisters are placed in the care of a foster family. Their foster mother appears kind, but her husband harbors deep resentment. As the girls adjust to their new lives and tensions escalate within the household, a growing sense of unease develops. It remains unclear whether the threat comes from the foster father's volatile temper or from a darker secret connected to the twins themselves.

Ending explained
How The Fostered (2025) ends, in short: the final scene, the last twist and what it means for the characters. The full ending explained, with every spoiler, lives on its own page.
The film’s climax hinges on Morgan’s fractured psyche. After the girls’ arrival, the farm’s tension spirals — Kevin’s subtle abuse, Amy’s fragile bond, and the girls’ desperate need to protect themselves. The first brutal act is the accidental drowning of Heather, caused when the girls lure her into the well and Matt, in a fit of rage, throws a stone that kills her. That murder awakens the boys’ own violence, and soon Matt is silenced in the shed by Morgan and her “other self,” Madison, who urges her to erase the threat to the fragile household.
When Kevin, enraged, confronts the girls and attempts to beat Morgan, Amy intervenes. In the chaotic struggle, Morgan climbs onto a higher ledge and, with a shovel, strikes Kevin, sending him over the edge to his death. The fallout feels momentarily safe; Amy collapses into tears, embraces Morgan, and the two seem to have finally found a tentative peace.
But the final moments reveal that the peace is only skin‑deep. months later, Amy’s life appears rebuilt: her book is published, she’s pregnant, and she introduces Morgan—now a “big sister”—to a new man named Eddie. As Eddie greets her, the camera lingers on the shed’s roof, where a shadowy silhouette of Madison watches from above. This lingering presence signals that Morgan’s alter ego has never truly vanished; the trauma that birthed Madison still whispers, suggesting that without confronting her past, the cycle of violence may begin again. The ending thus leaves the audience with a haunting question: can a child ever fully escape the horrors they internalized, or will the split self forever haunt the new beginnings they try to build?
