Years prior, Axel severed ties with his family following a devastating tragedy he feels responsible for. When his ship makes a stop in his hometown, he decides to visit his mother, Françoise. He’s shocked to discover she doesn’t recognize him, suffering from Alzheimer's and losing memories. Axel becomes the first of his siblings to vanish from her recollections. He resists his siblings’ plan to place her in a care facility, choosing instead to care for her and confront the long-avoided truths that lie between them.
