When Mrs. Irwin (Joan Barclay) asks Tom Lawrence, the Falcon, to prevent her ex-husband Tex Irwin from marrying Vanessa Drake, a gold digger, the case quickly spirals into murder. Rich cattle baron Irwin is found dead in a New York City nightclub, dying from the venom of a rattlesnake. As suspicion shifts among his family and business associates, the Falcon and the police, led by Inspector Timothy Donovan and Homicide Detective Edward Gargan, travel west to the Irwin ranch in Texas to unravel the mystery. What begins as a personal dispute over a marriage escalates into a calculated crime with layers of motive waiting to be uncovered.

On the Texas ranch, as Tom Lawrence rides, a pot shot is fired at him, and Tex’s lawyer Steven Hayden is killed in the same chilling way—a snake bite. Dusty, Tex’s foreman who was present in the nightclub on Tex’s final night, becomes a prime suspect, while other potential culprits multiply: Dave Colby, his daughter Marion Colby, Vanessa Drake, and Mrs. Irwin, who arrives at the ranch determined to influence the outcome of the proposed union. The tension deepens as an Indian scalp is mysteriously hung on Lawrence’s door, serving as a stark Comanche death warning that the killer will stop at nothing to protect their plan.

An apparent attack on Vanessa further muddles the picture, prompting tense moves from all sides. With Mrs. Irwin and the Colbys pressing to halt the marriage, suspicion narrows to Dave Colby as the most likely culprit, even as the Falcon weighs every clue and keeps a careful eye on the real mastermind behind the killings. A pivotal discovery changes everything: an Indian medicine bag containing the deed to Tex’s ranch and a poison ring shaped like a snake reveal how the murders were carried out and by whom they were orchestrated.

Confronting Vanessa, she attempts to use the poison ring to stab Lawrence, but Dusty intervenes, pulling a gun on the Falcon. The revelation arrives in a flurry of confessions and counterplots: Dusty double-crosses Vanessa and emerges as her accomplice, while the ranch hands, closing in with the police, force the pair to surrender. The tension of the pursuit lingers as the story moves toward closure, with Tom Lawrence and Marion watching as Donovan and Bates board their train, and a final figure stepping from the train, hinting at new trouble just beyond the horizon.
