In the Pacific Ocean, Soviet and American squadrons conduct routine maneuvers. After months at sea, a Soviet frigate heads home but a distress signal forces a course change. The CIA provokes a real strike by readying a missile launcher on a secret U.S. base against the Soviet fleet. The Soviet crew intervenes, averting the NATO‑engineered disaster and entering a real battle.
