The Damned

David Reynolds, an American photographer, and his fiancée Lauren travel to Colombia to persuade Jill, David's teenage daughter, to return for their wedding. They find Jill with Gina, David's former sister-in-law, and Gina's cameraman Ramón, who is dating Jill. Jill refuses to join them, arguing she is grieving her mother's death. She also tells them she left her passport in a nearby city, and invites Ramón to come along to retrieve it, much to David's annoyance.

Captain Morales warns that the road ahead is flooded and treacherous. Gina brushes off the warning and presses on, confident she knows the area. As the storm worsens, the route becomes disorienting and tensions rise among the group.

Lost in the storm, they lose control of the car and are swept off the road by rising water. The wreck leaves Lauren with two broken ribs and the others with minor injuries. They stumble toward a remote inn, seeking shelter from the elements.

The group reaches a remote inn, where owner Felipe tells them the place is closed and urges them to seek help in town. Despite their injuries, Felipe lets them into the lobby but warns them not to leave. The inn feels ominous as they settle inside.

While Jill and Ramón search for a bathroom, Jill hears a cry for help and they discover Ana Maria locked in a box in the basement. Felipe confronts them with a rifle, but David knocks him out and frees Ana Maria, then they gag Felipe to prevent further danger. The group realizes they are now trapped in a dangerous situation.

The inn has not had a customer since 1978, and a decades-old photograph of Ana Maria hints at a dark history. The carved box and Ana Maria's taunts suggest something supernatural at work. When Felipe regains consciousness, he lunges at Ana Maria with a knife, and Ramón shoots and kills him.

Captain Morales arrives and demands to see Felipe. The others explain that Felipe was killed in self-defense, and Morales orders them at gunpoint to enter the box. David briefly enters the box, then rushes Morales and disarms him, turning the moment into a tense standoff.

Morales reveals that Ana Maria is a bruja who can take over the body of anyone who kills her current host. Felipe had locked her away nearly 40 years ago after his daughter was possessed. The witch uses secrets and fear to sow discord and coax killings, so she can inhabit the strongest person.

Gina kills Ana Maria after she threatens to reveal Gina's abortion, silencing the immediate threat. Ramón then kills the witch inhabiting Gina when she reveals that he is a serial killer who preys on young women.

Morales urges them to wound the witch rather than kill her, but Lauren accidentally kills Ramón in the ensuing chaos. The witch then shifts bodies and begins to torment the group, revealing her growing influence.

The witch, now in Lauren's body, taunts them by revealing that David turned off Marcela's life support without telling Jill. The revelation devastates Jill and confirms the witch's intent to manipulate everyone.

The witch frees herself from Lauren, kills Morales, and promises to let Jill live if David sacrifices himself. The group is horrified by the impossible choice and confronts the possibility of a final, desperate confrontation.

David, seeing the witch in another form, contemplates sacrificing himself; the Marcela-like apparition disfigures itself to push him toward the decision. He wrestles with a choice that could save or damn everyone.

Before David can act, Jill takes decisive action and kills the witch herself. Her act marks a turning point, but leaves her emotionally overwhelmed and afraid of what comes next.

Overcome with grief, David locks Jill, now possessed, inside the same box where Ana Maria was kept. The immediate danger ends, but the family is left fractured and haunted by the night's events.
