After WWII, veteran Stan opens a drive‑in restaurant, hoping to marry his girlfriend Joanie, a carhop. Their plans stall as business falters. Joanie’s reckless brother Frank arrives with a dubious money‑making scheme. Though Joanie objects, Stan’s gambling habit draws him toward the promised profit, threatening their future.
