The mongrel pup at Pete’s Pooch Palace catches the Captain’s eye, who brings it home despite Mama’s prohibition. He pretends to toss it out, hiding it under his coat, but it’s revealed at dinner. Confined to the yard it howls all night; the exhausted Captain is sent out to quiet it, yet he slips the dog back into his own bed.
