What Happens at the End of The Bloodhound?

How The Bloodhound (2020) ends, what the final scene means, which earlier moments set it up and how to read the ending if the film leaves it open. The full ending explained, with every spoiler.

The ending of Bloodhounds reveals that Woo-jin and Gun-woo, after a fierce series of confrontations, manage to track down Myeong-gil on a cargo ship where he plans to escape with stolen gold. Demonstrating resourcefulness and courage, they overcome him and his men in a tense showdown, ultimately capturing him and his accomplices with the help of police intervention. Their victory signifies not just the apprehension of a criminal but also justice for the many victims he had harmed.

In the aftermath, Mr. Hong, the benefactor who helped Gun-woo and Woo-jin pay off their debts, acknowledges their bravery and offers to fund charitable initiatives—such as building a hospital and a welfare foundation—funds that are intended to honor the memory of President Choi, the kind-hearted ex-loan shark who faced Myeong-gil’s cruelty and was betrayed and hurt by his actions.

The story concludes with Gun-woo finally reuniting with his mother, who has found stability working at Choi’s orphanage, symbolizing a new beginning and hope. Although the friends had to give up their dreams of boxing following their dangerous mission, they gain something even more valuable—peace of mind that they’ve helped right a great wrong and brought justice to a corrupt, suffering society. Their journey ends on a note of hope and redemption, illustrating that acts of courage can transform even their darkest circumstances into rays of light.
