Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny

A young man named Jack decides to break free from his strict religious upbringing in Kickapoo, MO. His desire for adventure and to pursue his dreams leads him to embark on a journey to Hollywood.

Upon arriving in Hollywood, Jack encounters Kyle Gass, an acoustic guitarist performing on the streets. Jack is immediately captivated by Kyle's talent and begins to idolize him as a rock deity.

Kyle manipulates Jack into running errands for him under the pretense of being a member of a fictitious band, 'The Kyle Gass Project.' Jack, eager to achieve his dreams, unwittingly becomes Kyle's servant.

After realizing Kyle's deception, the relationship shifts, but Kyle seeks to make amends by gifting Jack a shiny new guitar. This gesture marks the birth of their own band, which they humorously name 'Tenacious D' after their birthmarks.

The duo learns about a legendary guitar pick known as 'The Pick of Destiny,' reputed to give extraordinary power to its holder. They are driven by the ambition to use this mystical pick to elevate their rock status.

Determined to become rock royalty, Jack leads Tenacious D on a daring mission to steal the Pick of Destiny from a rock history museum. They believe that obtaining the pick is the key to their success.

Tensions rise as Kyle indulges in the pleasures of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll after being invited to a party, while Jack stays focused on their goal. This leads to a temporary separation of the band.

Jack experiences a life-threatening mushroom-induced hallucination, where he believes he is cavorting with Sasquatch. This bizarre event serves as a wake-up call for both him and Kyle to reunite.

Despite their challenges, Tenacious D successfully steals the Pick of Destiny from the museum, outsmarting the presence of inept security. Their high spirits quickly rise as they plan to use their newfound power.

In a moment of greed, Jack and Kyle argue and accidentally break the pick into two halves. This incident foreshadows the impending turmoil they must face as they prepare for a performance.

After performing at a bar, Jack and Kyle are confronted by Satan, who threatens to drag Kyle back to Hell. They learn that their petty squabbles have deeper repercussions than they anticipated.

In a desperate move to save Kyle, the duo challenges Satan to a rock-off. Bound by the Demon Code, both sides face the consequences of the battle, which could lead to either freedom or doom.

Despite their passionate performance, Tenacious D lacks the power to defeat Satan, inciting him to retaliate. Jack heroically intervenes to redirect Satan's energy, protecting Kyle from certain doom.

Seizing the moment, Jack uses a powerful incantation to banish Satan. With the dark lord defeated, they turn his horn into the 'Bong of Destiny', marking a triumphant close to their tumultuous journey.
