A romantic fantasy drawn from the two songs that inspired Marina Tsvetaeva, the film weaves a mood of melancholy through brief, fleeting meetings and prolonged separations. It revives a beloved motif from the late Silver Age, placing the story at the outset of the Great War, when that era’s wistful tone felt especially resonant.
