In a remote forester’s lodge lives the four‑generation Hanák family. The lively grandmother writes detective stories, while her daughter, Ms. Hanáková, a big‑hearted singer, spends her life cooking despite lacking talent. Their son, Mr. Hanák, tends to a menagerie of animals that roam the house and grounds. Paul, married to Kate, is a handyman who often naps, and their two hyperactive boys keep everyone on their toes. The eccentric neighbor Mr. Kestrel, a town‑dweller, frequently visits, adding to the household’s quirky charm. One ordinary afternoon, Kate announces she’s expecting a baby, stirring excitement throughout the family.
