Kyoko meets Tetsu while traveling in San Francisco, and the two quickly fall in love, though Tetsu has no intention of marrying. They plan to reunite in Tokyo, but he never appears. Determined, Kyoko returns to San Francisco to find him, only to discover he is dating someone new. Disheartened, she goes back to Tokyo, where she eventually marries a powerful corporate CEO.
