Violet Barton is a manipulative femme‑fatale who uses her charm to secure wealth, even resorting to bigamy. She maintains an affair with gambler Gregg Delaney but marries his friend Johnny Hale after learning he’s the richest man in Texas. Her actions estrange sister Janet, who loves Hale, and anger Delaney. Sheriff Bill Howard pursues Delaney to force a murder confession.
