Donald Duck runs a bustling shooting gallery at the local carnival. Huey, Dewey, and Louie arrive wearing military cadet uniforms and challenge him to play. Donald insists they try their luck, setting the stage for the tricks and double-dealing to come.

Huey hits every target with remarkable accuracy. When it's time for the prize, Donald reaches past the large displayed candy boxes to hand Huey a tiny hidden box. The prize is not what it seems, signaling the start of Donald's deception.

Donald urges Huey to repeat the performance for a real prize, then slips a gimmicked gun from under the counter. He plans to keep Huey from noticing the trick by delivering the weapon in secret. The deception is set to unfold on the very next shot.

Huey fires the gimmicked gun and all of his shots miss the targets, exposing the trick. Donald maintains a calm facade while the audience remains unaware of the setup. The audience sees only the failing result, not the deceit behind it.

Donald prepares to make Huey think he is hitting targets with an empty gun by creating a glass-breaking sound using extra light bulbs. Back at the row of targets, Louie positions himself with a hammer to break the glass displays. He advances along the targets and lands a blow, injuring Donald's hand in the process. The brothers' interference escalates the chaos and undermines the booth's operation.

The nephews attempt to abscond with Donald's candy prizes, seizing the moment while the booth is in disarray. Donald uses his cane to catch them, reclaim the candy, and then clubs them away from the booth. The theft attempt adds a physical gag to the ongoing deception.
