Maria, an orphan, sings in a bar with friends who form a rock band. Bandmate Ernesto loves her, but she feels detached. Overwhelmed by existential emptiness, she impulsively becomes a convent novice, breaking his heart. Her rebellious spirit clashes with the director, yet in the children’s hospital she meets a doctor, and their bond suggests love and respect.
