Somnium

Gemma’s night shift ends with Noah forcing her into the clinic’s most brutal protocol, Cloud 9. She is plunged into a black void that suddenly becomes a glossy talk‑show set, where a host crowns her the country’s newest star. The applause erupts, but the illusion shatters when Max, a former patient who herself survived Cloud 9, walks off the stage and the crowd turns hostile. The dream then shifts to a reunion with her ex‑boyfriend Hunter, who appears caring at first but instantly turns vicious, accusing her of chasing a hollow dream and ruining his life. Each fantasy collapses, leaving Gemma alone in the darkness.

When the monstrous figure that has haunted her throughout the film finally confronts her, she remembers Brooks’s warning: “If you want something, you have to go after it, not run from it.” She meets the creature’s stare with resolve instead of fear. The act of daring breaks the nightmarish simulation; the monster dissolves and Gemma awakens in the pod with all of her memories intact.

The clinic is silent, the pods empty, and Dr. Shaffer and Olivia stare in disbelief at the woman who survived the procedure. Gemma calmly tells them to check the security footage for the truth about what happens after dark. The police arrive, arrest Noah, and the Somnium facility is shut down. Using the emergency fund she had hidden for a possible escape, Gemma pays her rent and, to her surprise, receives a callback for an audition on a film called “The Call.” In the end, the nightmare ends not with a spectacular triumph but with a modest, genuine step forward—Gemma walks away from the false promises of the clinic and toward a real, if uncertain, future.
