At a party hosted by her boss Måns Wenngren, fiscal attorney Rebecka Martinsson receives a frantic call from former sister‑in‑law Sanna Strandgård, who reports that her brother, preacher Viktor, has been brutally murdered, stabbed and his hands severed, and that Sanna is being blamed. Rebecka returns to her icy hometown Kiruna to defend Sanna. Though police find incriminating evidence at Sanna’s home, Rebecka remains convinced of her innocence, confronting the town’s fanatical worshippers and her own haunted past.
