Set in 1947, the film follows Bender’s band as they retreat from a hard‑won clash with the Nazis and scramble across war‑torn Czechoslovakia toward the safety of Austria. Emerging from a forest, they seize a rural family’s estate, holding the residents hostage and abducting local doctors in a desperate effort to treat a seriously injured comrade.
