Sequin in a Blue Room

Sequin, a sixteen-year-old, is comfortable with his queer identity and has a healthy relationship with his father. He prefers casual, anonymous sexual encounters over meaningful relationships, often using a dating app to meet partners. His emotional detachment allows him to ghost his partners after casual encounters, maintaining a sense of independence.

Sequin has a sexual encounter with B, an older married man who becomes obsessed with him. B's desire to meet again intensifies his fixation on Sequin, causing a dangerous dynamic. B's obsession begins to creep into Sequin's life, prompting him to be cautious yet intrigued by B.

At school, Tommy, who has a crush on Sequin, asks him out on a traditional date. Sequin agrees to go, showing a willingness to explore a different kind of connection. This marks a shift from his usual casual encounters toward more meaningful interactions.

Sequin receives an invite from D to a group sex party at 'The Blue Room'. He attends the event, seeking new experiences and connections. B notices Sequin at the party, which sparks a pursuit that escalates tension between them.

During the party, B begins chasing Sequin, but Edward intervenes and rescues him. Sequin then has a sexual encounter with Edward, who suddenly leaves, telling him to find him 'out there'. This mysterious encounter ignites Sequin's curiosity and desire to find Edward.

Returning home from the party, Sequin forgets about his scheduled date with Tommy and cancels. This indicates his growing focus on the mysterious Edward and the complicated emotional landscape he is navigating.

Sequin rekindles his connection with B by having sex again, during which he steals B’s phone to look for clues about The Blue Room and Edward. B begins stalking Sequin after realizing his phone is missing, heightening the danger.

Sequin finds contacts in B’s phone and meets Virginia, a drag queen, to get high. He becomes so intoxicated that he neglects his responsibilities, leading to him being kicked out by his father. This marks a turning point, illustrating his reckless pursuit of Edward.

Sequin is lured back to The Blue Room using false information to find Edward. Upon arriving, he is ambushed by B, who severely beats him, escalating the danger and illustrating the destructive consequences of his obsession.

Hurt and without a home, Sequin returns to Virginia’s place to recover physically and emotionally. They discuss his obsession with finding Edward, and Virginia provides insights that eventually help Sequin track Edward down.

Sequin finally locates Edward based on Virginia’s clues, but discovers that Edward is already in a committed relationship. This realization brings a sense of closure to his quest but also leaves him with emotional conflict.

Sequin reconciles with his father, repairing their relationship and returning home. The film ends with Sequin and Tommy watching Twilight together, symbolizing his acceptance and comfort in his identity and relationships.
