Newspaper reporter Rebecca Chandler, frustrated after three years without recognition, plans a Hawaiian vacation with fiancé Ryan. Instead of a wedding ring, Ryan assigns her to be the “bachelor on duty” for the Christmas season, writing the town’s annual feel‑good story about the elusive Secret Santa in Hamden. A string of mishaps—her car breaks down, she’s forced to stay in an elderly home without internet—impedes her quest. She suspects the wealthy philanthropist John Martin Carter, but he repeatedly appears without her realizing it.
