Following a series of unsettling experiences, those closest to Kathy Deane notice she is changed. A difficult diagnosis prompts her to leave her marriage and seek solace with a man she barely knows. Battling mental illness, she struggles with irrational behavior and a diminished sense of empathy. Drawn to Nick's seemingly unrestrained spirit, she accompanies him to his family home in the marshes of north Kent. It is there, surrounded by the landscape of his childhood, that she hopes to rediscover herself and find a path toward healing.
