A Newfoundland fishing boat rescues a wrecked Danish sailing vessel and brings it to a coastal village. He, his crew and villagers devise a plan to destroy the ship and any enemy submarines that come, recalling Edmund Gilligan’s novel “The Gaunt Woman.”
