Based on a true story of two college students who attempted a double suicide to end their doomed romance, the film serves as material for pinku‑eiga director Hisayasu Sato. Its fatalistic, melancholic tone makes it one of the more depressing Japanese softcore works, and Sato heightens the gloom with intercutting the lovers’ 8 mm experimental footage throughout.
