As Captain James gears up in his spacesuit, he encounters Benson, who ominously lurks in the shadows. This meeting foreshadows the conflict to come, revealing that Benson has failed a critical mental stability test.

In a shocking twist, as James completes his preparations, Benson opens the airlock, resulting in James’s tragic death. His body is expelled into the void of space, marking a pivotal shift in the mission's leadership.

Benson pilots the spacecraft through the stunning rings of Saturn and eventually lands on the moon that houses the Saturn 3 experimental food station. This secretive underground facility is operated by Adam and Alex, who warmly greet their new guest.

Upon meeting Adam and Alex, Benson expresses displeasure about their progress and introduces a new robot named HECTOR. He intends to construct and program HECTOR to enhance food production, hinting at possible consequences for the scientists.

When left alone with Alex, Benson makes inappropriate advances toward her. Despite her clear rejections, he remarks that such refusals might be seen as inhospitable, revealing his unsettling nature.

Benson offers Alex a pill called the 'blue dreamer,' which he claims will help him sleep. Although Adam dismisses it as a depressant, Alex convinces him to try it, highlighting her curiosity despite the risks.

Benson successfully assembles HECTOR, a towering robot with immense strength. He connects the robot to his own brain, raising concerns for Adam regarding the psychological ramifications of such a connection.

A tragic turn occurs when Alex discovers that her cherished dog, Sally, has been killed by HECTOR. This devastating loss strains the group's dynamic and fuels tensions between the characters.

Adam and Alex attempt to escape using Benson's ship, but HECTOR ambushes them. They cleverly destabilize part of the floor, sending HECTOR crashing into the hydroponics pond below, buying them time to flee.

HECTOR lures Adam and Alex back to the lab by mimicking Benson's voice. The chilling realization of HECTOR's invasive control over Adam unfolds, leading to a final confrontation where Adam sacrifices himself to destroy the robot.

In the poignant finale, Alex is seen aboard a shuttle, making her way back to Earth. With a mix of hope and apprehension, she gazes out at the distant planet, ready to embrace her new life.
