Tange encounters Chiharu, a member of the Uesugi Clan, being attacked by feral dogs. He kills one of the dogs to protect her, risking death due to the shogunate's strict laws against such acts. Yasubei helps conceal Tange's act, using it to deepen his connection with Chiharu.
