Beat relocates to Tsushima, Tokyo to live with his father, whose presence in his life had become strained after a painful choice: his father opted to stay at a fashion show instead of being by Beat’s mother on her deathbed. Later, Beat visits Kirara Erina Mizuno in a nearby hospital, and there he meets Mei, Hitomi Miyauchi. The very next day, Mei learns that Beat will be her new classmate, setting the stage for a year that blends ambition with heartbreak.
As the class grows preoccupied with an upcoming school festival, a long-standing tradition surfaces: they always stage a fashion show, largely because their class once included the famous model Miki Tachibana, Mirei Kiritani. Miki’s critical eye makes it clear that she dislikes most of the classmates’ designs and even threatens to cancel the show. Rising to the challenge, Beat decides to design something that could win her approval. He first reshapes Satoru Inuda, Kei Tanaka, into a more confident, stylish figure, hoping to prove his own abilities. The move works: Beat gains momentum, and soon Miki and the rest of the class are receptive to his fashion concepts. To help, Satoru lends his architectural flair to craft the runway needed for the presentation, and the entire class pitches in.
When Miki publicly showcases Beat’s designs on her blog, the designs receive widespread praise online. Yet trouble brews when World Stage, a major fashion company, copies those same designs and persuades Miki to model them. The parallel success of the copied collection casts doubt on Beat’s originality and stirs friction within the class. Hurt by the erosion of trust, Beat makes the difficult choice to pull out of the fashion show. The looming closure of their school due to funding shortages compounds the pressure, casting a shadow over the students’ dreams.
Meanwhile, Kirara’s prognosis darkens: doctors tell Beat that she may not live more than six months. In response, Beat pours his energy into crafting beautiful pajamas for Kirara, a gesture that strengthens his resolve. He begins to grow closer to his father after seeing a wedding dress designed for Beat’s mother, a garment that hints at a possible healing through shared memory. Mei also encourages him to return to design—an act that reinvigorates the class and lifts their spirits as they revive the campaign to hold the show.
Mei confesses her love to Beat one day, only to find him surprised and not ready for a relationship, a moment that underscores Beat’s focus on his craft and his family. Later, a revelation from his father’s assistant helps Beat understand the reason behind his father’s estrangement: his father refused to leave the fashion world because Beat’s mother had told him that a successful show would give her the strength to fight her illness. This understanding deepens Beat’s respect for his father, enriching the emotional texture of the story.
With the town behind them, the group faces one more hurdle: World Stage has booked a new venue, threatening to derail the show once again. Miki is warned that participating may jeopardize her modeling career, but she chooses to press on. In a decisive pivot, the class returns to their original school setting, and they plan to stage the fashion show on March 20, the final day of the school year. The townspeople rally to help, and the stage is prepared just in time. Just before the event begins, Kirara’s condition takes a turn for the worse, requiring Surgery, an operation that holds the possibility of a new lease on life.
The show presses forward, and it unfolds with a warmth and resilience that resonates with the crowd. Beat invites Mei to wear the wedding dress intended for his mother and to walk the runway with him, a moment that receives roaring approval from the audience. In the end, the participants recognize their potential to excel when given a chance, and Kirara’s operation proves to be a success, marking a quiet celebration of perseverance, loyalty, and hope that underlines the film’s hopeful core.
