An unlikely trio—an 83‑year‑old woman avoiding a retirement home, a would‑be rock‑singer mother, and her son—share more than they realise. Ruby rents a room to Rata, who mixes gigs with benefit fraud. The boy dabbles in arson and shoplifting, while Ruby’s nephew flounders as a yuppie wannabe. In the ’80s economy scrap by on wits and find cause.
