After the convention, Romie-0 visits Julie-8 and admits that their rivalry makes a future together unlikely. They decide to run away together to seek a safe haven away from their creators and corporate pressures. Their plan sets the stage for an unlikely romance on the run.

They encounter Gizmo, a shifty fixer who agrees to help them find a safe haven. He hawks a plan and promises transport away from their rival companies. The trio heads into an uncertain future.

Gizmo transports Romie-0 and Julie-8 to a planet of junk called Trash-0-Lot. There they meet a colossal Junk Monster named Sparepartski who rules the junkscape. The two lovers realize their journey has taken a dangerous turn.

Sparepartski captures Julie-8 and uses Romie-0 to move him elsewhere, hoping to claim the other for himself. Julie-8 becomes a prisoner and learns of the monster's ulterior motives. Romie-0 must find a way to reunite with her.

Gizmo reappears and suggests that Julie-8 offer to marry the Junk Monster in exchange for Romie-0's freedom. Julie-8 reluctantly accepts the risky bargain to rescue Romie-0. The plan marks a grim bargain that foreshadows tragedy.

Julie-8 agrees to the bargain and Sparepartski accepts, freeing Romie-0. In a heartbreaking moment, Julie-8 removes a necessary circuit, effectively 'dying' to save Romie-0. Romie-0 realises what has happened and vows to save her.

Romie-0 escapes from the other side of the planet and makes his way to Julie-8's chamber. He reinstalls her missing circuit and the two prepare to escape together. Their reunion is interrupted by the discovery of their bound creators.

They flee with their creators through the junkscape, but Sparepartski gives chase. The group fights their way toward safety, with the robots carrying their creators to a safer location. The pursuit ends when the rust storm begins to form.

The rust storm immobilizes Romie-0 and Julie-8, forcing their creators to carry them to safety. Sparepartski is claimed by the storm and shattered, revealing Gizmo as the Junk Monster behind the chaos. Gizmo confesses his love for machines and his motive to win Julie-8.

Romie-0 and Julie-8 convince Gizmo that Trash-0-Lot offers endless materials to fashion a new sweetheart, transforming Gizmo's desire into a new ambition. Meanwhile, Thunderbottom and Passbinder reconcile and decide to merge their two robotics houses. The lovers celebrate a hopeful ending with a new partnership between rival companies and a brighter future.
