Blu and Jewel are enjoying their life in Rio de Janeiro with their three children: Carla, Bia, and Tiago. Each child displays unique traits, with Carla showing a passion for music, Bia being intellectually curious, and Tiago embodying playfulness.

Linda Gunderson and her husband Tulio embark on a mission in the Amazon rainforest, where they discover a rapid-flying Spix's macaw that has lost a feather. Their exciting find sparks intrigue and concern for the species, leading to significant developments for Blu and Jewel.

Upon hearing about the Spix's macaw, Jewel feels a strong desire to journey into the Amazon. She believes it is essential for Blu to connect with his own kind, despite Blu's initial hesitations about venturing into the jungle.

With excitement in the air, Jewel and the kids persuade Blu to join their expedition to the Amazon. Their friends Rafael, Nico, and Pedro opt to accompany them, while Luiz, who wishes to join, is left behind.

Blu prepares for the trip by packing a fanny pack filled with essential supplies, which includes a GPS device. Jewel finds the GPS annoying, highlighting the couple's contrasting personalities as they prepare for the adventure ahead.

Meanwhile, Big Boss, the illegal logging leader, learns about Linda and Tulio's expedition. He sends out his henchmen to eliminate any threats that could disrupt his destructive plans in the Amazon rainforest.

Nigel, Blu and Jewel's archenemy, devises a revenge plan with the help of two sidekicks, Charlie and Gabi. Though grounded, Nigel is determined to exact his revenge during Blu's family adventure, showcasing his cunning.

As Blu and his family travel by boat into the jungle, Nigel prepares to strike back. His plans are soon thwarted, however, when Charlie accidentally triggers the emergency horn, waking everyone up and giving them a chance to regroup.

Upon reaching the jungle, Blu and his family initially encounter disappointment as they find nothing. However, they soon discover a secret paradise filled with a flock of Spix's macaws, including Jewel's strict long-lost father, Eduardo.

Eduardo disapproves of Blu's domestic demeanor, causing tension in their interaction. Blu tries to persuade Eduardo to help contact Linda, showing the families' different perspectives on the dangers of human interaction.

During a training session to help Blu adapt to the flock’s survival skills, chaos ensues. In the midst of this, Blu unintentionally sparks a feud between the Spix's macaws and their rivals, the Scarlet macaws, resulting in a food war.

After witnessing the destruction caused by loggers, Blu resolves to rescue Linda and Tulio. He gathers the blue macaws and enlists the help of Scarlet macaws to take a stand against Big Boss and his men, uniting the jungle animals.

In a dramatic confrontation, Blu and Nigel find themselves tangled in vines as they battle it out. Gabi and Charlie inadvertently assist by causing confusion, ultimately leading to Nigel's unintended downfall.

With the loggers defeated, Blu and Jewel decide to settle in the Amazon with their family and friends. They promise to return to Rio during the summer, marking a new chapter filled with safety and unity.

As the adventure wraps up, Nigel and Gabi are escorted back to Rio by Tulio. Luiz finally arrives in the Amazon, and Charlie becomes a new member of their flock, illustrating the theme of friendships formed through shared experiences.
