Two friends, Michael “Mike” Danube, portrayed by Peter Cilella, and Chris Daniels, played by Vinny Curran, embark on a hunting trip to a cabin nestled deep in the forest, a place filled with cherished memories of joy and laughter. However, this time around, their outing takes a dark turn as Chris grapples with severe meth addiction. In an attempt to help his friend, Mike resorts to extreme measures; he gives Chris an electric shock from a self-defense device and handcuffs him to a pipe on the wall. Unsure of how to deal with the situation, Mike steps out to shop at a nearby supermarket, but not before he enjoys a brief moment bonding with a dog he encounters on the way back.

Upon his return, Chris confesses his need for rehabilitation. Yet, Mike, skeptical of Chris’s intentions, shows him the dog, hoping to provide some comfort. In a rather desperate attempt to escape, Chris tries to cut the handcuffs with a toothbrush he had stashed away in his pocket. As withdrawal symptoms set in, Chris feigns nightmares, only to ambush Mike, prompting Mike to use the Taser on him.

Complicating matters, two of Chris’s friends, Micah, played by Skyler Meacham, and Billy, portrayed by Kurt David Anderson, arrive at the cabin, mistakenly seeking drugs. They encounter Charles, played by Zahn McClarnon, a tribal representative who informs Mike that he is trespassing on sacred Native American land. Mike assures him they will leave within a week, determined to uphold the cabin’s integrity.

Throughout their time together, Mike and Chris engage in deep discussions about life, addiction, and happiness, while Mike endeavors to care for his troubled friend. Strange occurrences plague the cabin, especially when a recording Mike attempts to view appears altered—distorted and resembling a pornographic film instead of the anticipated military documentary.

As the story unfolds, the tension escalates when it seems Billy and Micah might be involved in the death of the cabin’s dog. Chris opens up about his suicidal thoughts, prompting Mike to seek solace and answers from local townsfolk. During a conversation with Byron, played by Bill Oberst Jr, they discuss the cabin’s haunted past, as Mike remains a skeptic.

When the duo decides to leave, they stumble upon a bag of crystal meth Chris had hidden away. A shocking recording surfaces, echoing gunshots and a haunting female voice. They discover a film revealing a fire that consumes the cabin, resulting in the deaths of both Mike and Chris. As they contemplate their next moves, Chris desires to abandon their perilous situation, while Mike fears the consequences of returning home carrying an ill omen.

Amidst the chaos, they observe Charles, Micah, and Billy on their quest for drugs. As the cabin is set ablaze, an ominous entity emerges from the flames, leaving Mike and Chris transfixed. In a moment of desperation, Mike questions the entity: “Can we try it another way?” As the scene fades to a blinding light, the end credits roll, marking a chilling conclusion to their harrowing experience.
