The film became an instant hit and exemplified the late‑1920s martial‑arts boom, establishing a template for later revivals. Its twist replaces the usual male lead with a daring heroine. Initially captured, she transforms into an unstoppable warrior determined to defeat a tyrannical warlord who ravages the countryside and enslaves scores of scantily‑clad young women.
