A rollicking musical parody of classic westerns, packed with song, dance and comedy. Rosemary Clooney leads the red‑gartered dancers of the Red Dog Saloon, who will only perform a can‑can if Jack Carson’s Jason proposes. Guy Mitchell and Gene Barry play feuding gun‑toting cowboys, while Frank Faylen, Buddy Ebsen and others hope the shooters get nervous so they can hold a town barbecue during a funeral. The film boasts lively numbers by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans and colorful, Oscar‑nominated sets.
