Millions of years ago, Desghidorah arrives on Earth and clashes with Mothra and the Elias. The dragon is defeated and sealed beneath the Earth, with Moll, Lora, Belvera, and Mothra remaining as guardians. In the present day, Mothra strains herself, draining energy to lay a protective egg for her species. The effort leaves her weakened but determined to ensure survival. The destiny of the moth line rests on this fragile egg.

A logging operation uncovers Desghidorah's subterranean prison and inadvertently breaks the seal. The disturbance stirs the ancient threat from its slumber and alarms the guardians. Moll and Lora detect the disturbance and sense that trouble has returned.
