The German occupiers show no mercy, even slaughtering children to break Soviet resistance. Olga (Nataliya Uzhviy), a partisan returning to her village to bear a child, suffers brutal, arbitrary torture at the hands of the Nazis. When the villagers revolt, they spare the surviving soldiers, forcing them to stand trial in a post‑war people’s court, with collaborators to be judged similarly.
