Raghothaman complains of stomach pain and undergoes testing that reveals stomach cancer. He begins treatment at the Madras Cancer Institute, and the family surrounds him with worry. The diagnosis sets his three final wishes into motion.

Raghothaman expresses three wishes before his illness darkens further: to savor biryani at Buhari Hotel, to take a photo with M. G. Ramachandran, and to see Kayal married. The wishes press Kayal toward an arranged marriage that she does not want. His longing injects urgency into the plot.

Selvan confronts Kayal at the exam center, accusing her of deception. She answers boldly, and he leaves, seemingly angry but not yet defeated. He later learns from his mother about Kayal having seen his diary and plots to stop the marriage.

A doctor finally reveals that Raghu's stomach issue was misdiagnosed as cancer, and Raghu's condition is not as dire as believed. Raghu slaps the doctor in frustration over the prolonged confusion. The revelation undermines the initial crisis and shifts the stakes.

Ranganathan aggressively pursues reopening the Valluvanpettai Hindi Sabha and vows revenge for the humiliation Kayal caused. Meanwhile, an anonymous note from Selvan reveals that Kayal took the Hindi exam to advance and that her marriage plans are underway.

As wedding plans progress, an anonymous 'Suman' letter lures the groom to an isolated place, where he is beaten and locked up. The plan aims to derail the marriage but Kayal feels relief when it fails. The drama escalates as the conflict widens.

Ranganathan crashes the wedding to announce the Hindi Sabha reopening, prompting Kayal to interrupt and vow to stop him. She accuses Selvan of impotence and exposes the parallels between marriage imposition and linguistic imposition. The confrontation exposes true motives and ends in renewed resolve.

At a bus stop, an ardent reader named Kamal, inspired by Ka. Pandian's feminist stories, expresses a wish to meet the author. Kayal finally reveals herself as Ka. Pandian, shedding her anonymity and embracing her public voice.
