In the impoverished tenements of Catfish Row, Bess, a woman longing for love and freedom, finds herself drawn to Porgy, a kind man who relies on a cart for mobility. Their connection is tested when Bess is also captivated by the charismatic but volatile Crown. A violent act committed by Crown throws the close-knit community into turmoil, forcing Porgy to find strength and confront the harsh realities of their lives amidst the vibrant sounds of jazz and blues.
