Set in 1980s Puerto Rico, teens are split between “cocolos” – fans of street‑ghetto music – and “rockeros” who prefer American pop. Javier, a shy cocolo, must summon the courage to ask his crush, while Laura, the school’s most popular rockera, fights to reclaim her status after being shunned for flirting. A mix‑up lands them together in a televised dance contest, forcing the wealthy snob and the underdog to discover that love, comedy and teenage angst share the same rhythm.
