On Christmas Eve, Angela Bridges, a determined young executive, finds herself staying late at work, preparing to leave for the family holiday festivities. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when she discovers her car won’t start in the deserted parking garage P2. With her cell phone powerless to connect her to the outside world, Angela’s situation becomes increasingly dire.
Just when she thinks help might be at hand, Thomas, the friendly security guard played by Wes Bentley, offers assistance. Initially nervous but somewhat relieved, Angela declines his invitation to share a modest Christmas dinner in the security office. Unbeknownst to her, Thomas has been quietly observing her for months, and his kindness hides darker intentions.
What unfolds next is a terrifying ordeal as Thomas assaults Angela, rendering her unconscious with chloroform. She awakens in his office, her ankle shackled to a table, while Thomas tries to involve her in a macabre version of Christmas cheer with a dinner of turkey and mashed potatoes. He bombards her with questions about her life as if trying to bond over a meal, all while revealing his obsession with her. Expressing his twisted affection, he quotes Ernest Hemingway, stating he loves her just as the main character loves his girlfriend in The Sun Also Rises.
Despite Angela’s desperate cries for help and threats to contact her family, Thomas doesn’t relent. He forces her to lie about being ill to ensure nobody will come looking for her. As he prepares to take her for a “drive,” they are abruptly interrupted. When freed from her chains for a moment, Angela inflicts a painful stab wound on Thomas, but her escape is short-lived.
Tragically, things escalate further when they discover their colleague Jim, portrayed by Akin, tied up. Thomas, misinterpreting Angela’s past interactions with Jim, decides to punish him brutally under the guise of a gift for Angela. The violence threatens to consume them both as Thomas’s delusions of love spiral out of control. After an agonizing confrontation, Jim meets a gruesome fate at Thomas’s hands, leaving Angela to flee for her life.
In her frantic bid for survival, Angela manages to free herself, even using an emergency phone to call for help. However, the voice on the line is none other than Thomas, mirroring her fears. In a moment of sheer survival instinct, she hides in the dim corners of the garage while Thomas cranks up the torment by playing Elvis songs over the intercom.
As the night degenerates into chaos, Angela fights back against her captor. She cleverly evades him, destroys security cameras for cover, and witnesses horrifying footage of her own violation during her captivity. When opportunity strikes, she breaks free from Thomas’s control, battling both him and his aggressive dog, Rocky.
After a brutal tussle, Angela prevails, but not without suffering injuries of her own. She escapes into the snowy New York streets, bloodied and fatigued, yet filled with an indomitable spirit. At that moment, Angela finally struggles toward the bright lights of the ambulances, leaving behind the nightmare and savoring the fleeting sweetness of freedom.
