The film explores the subtle damage caused by well‑meaning but clueless tourists, shifting focus from the U.S. critique popularized by The Ugly American to the behavior of affluent Italians abroad. Set in Malindi, Kenya, it portrays the seaside town as a playground for rich Italians, whose arrogance and presumptuous attitudes clash with local culture. Through a thoughtful, comic drama, the story highlights how even good intentions can erode the customs and dignity of the communities they encounter.
