Disillusioned opera star Carlotta Manson abandons her career after falling for roguish cat‑burglar Barney McGann and marries him. Yet Barney soon grows weary of life as the husband of a celebrated diva, yearning to reclaim his criminal edge and sense of manhood. The film follows their turbulent romance as both grapple with the clash between fame and lawlessness, questioning whether love can survive the pull of old identities.
