Danny Ocean, Frank Sinatra, is released after four years in a New Jersey prison and heads to Los Angeles to reunite with his longtime partner, Rusty Ryan, [Dean Martin]. The duo sets their sights on Las Vegas, aiming to pull off a multi-million dollar heist that would hit three glittering casinos owned by a ruthless rival, Terry Benedict. To fund the audacious plan, they seek backing from a trusted ally and sketch out a score that hinges on timing, precision, and nerves of steel. The target is not just money, but a show of ingenuity that would outsmart a fortress of security, where every vault, guard, and camera is part of a larger, nearly impossible machine.

To turn the dream into reality, Ocean and his crew assemble eight accomplices, each chosen for a specific skill: con artistry, precision timing, heavy lifting, surveillance, and nerve. A precise replica of the vault is built to rehearse every move, and the team is assigned to infiltrate or surveil the Bellagio to map out staff routines, security gaps, and the building’s intricate layout. Linus Caldwell is tasked with shadowing Benedict, while a surprising personal twist unfolds when Benedict begins dating Danny’s ex-wife, Beatrice Ocean [Angie Dickinson]. The complexity deepens as Danny privately contemplates the emotional toll of the past relationship, even as the plan presses forward.

The plan pivots on Linus’s infiltration as a state gaming official, while Saul Bloom—abroad as a wealthy patron—coaxes Benedict into exposing a hidden briefcase carrying jumbled jewels that are secretly explosives. Yen, the acrobat, is smuggled into the vault via a casino trolley, and Basher Tarr triggers a stolen EMP device that plunges Las Vegas into darkness, disabling the grid that guards the elevator shaft’s laser security. With the grid down, Ocean and Linus descend to the vault entrance, neutralize guards, and, with Yen, wrench open the vault using the explosives disguised as jewels.

What follows is a carefully choreographed escape. Rusty and the team manipulate Benedict by threatening to detonates the money’s fate unless the cash is delivered to a waiting van. The team verifies the vault’s compromised condition by exploiting camera footage, but Benedict believes he has won and moves to retake control with a SWAT team. In a clever twist, the footage proves to be a ruse—the Bellagio’s logo wasn’t on the vault floor at the replica vault, revealing that the “raid” was staged and the real money is already in the van.

As dawn approaches, the box of duffel bags—filled with over $160 million in cash—is slipped away while the casino believes it’s witnessing a failed heist. Danny returns to the secure room just ahead of Benedict’s arrival, leaving him to confront the possibility of a discovered crime. The final scene confirms the plan’s success: the team has managed to escape with the money by exploiting a momentary lapse in Benedict’s vigilance. Tess, or Beatrice Ocean, remains a poignant reminder of past heartbreak, yet Danny’s triumph allows him to reconcile with the future he envisions.
