Set in Tokyo, August‑September 1923, the city blends horse carts with motorcars, swords with pistols, aristocrats with businessmen. An upper‑class woman falls for Taka, a handsome youth linked, perhaps reluctantly, to the Yakuza. Her maid Sara meets him too, sparking conflict that threatens passion and dishonor. Their story heads toward the September 1, 1923 quake and tsunami that will devastate Tokyo.
