Krishna Prasad starts the film in a fog of despair, drunk and determined to end his life, but a timely interruption by Chaban pulls him back from the edge. This encounter sows the seeds of an unusual friendship, and soon Krishna finds himself helping Chaban with his business, bringing a sense of purpose into his days. The pace quickens when a job seeker named Deepak Bajaj arrives at Krishna’s company for an interview and lands a position, setting in motion a series of intertwined fates.
One day, Deepak’s car breaks down, and Krishna drives him to his own home, where he encounters Pooja Dayal, Deepak’s wife. A flashback unfolds to reveal Krishna’s past as a car mechanic; Pooja had been on her way to a party with friends when her car conked out, and Krishna came to the rescue, repairing the car and accompanying her home. The two keep in touch, and what begins as a chance connection gradually blossoms into love. As their feelings deepen, Pooja’s father, Din Dayal, offers Krishna money to open his own factory, but Krishna declines, vowing that he will marry Pooja only after he has become a successful businessman. He even writes to Pooja asking her to forget him, a gesture that shatters her and leaves her heartbroken in his absence.
When Krishna returns to her life, he discovers with heartbreak that Pooja has married another man. The plot thickens at Krishna’s birthday party, where [Deepak Bajaj] and Pooja are invited to witness the affair between a mansion that mirrors Pooja’s dreams and the complicated loyalties that bind them. Deepak and Pooja are introduced to Krishna, and during a dance Krishna makes a bold attempt to kiss Pooja. Deepak reels from the moment and slaps Krishna, who apologizes to Pooja, insisting he acted from a place of love rather than desire. Deepak’s insult escalates into a confrontation, and Krishna ends up arresting Deepak on charges of embezzlement.
The tension between love, honor, and money intensifies as Deepak’s father pleads for his son’s release, while Krishna reveals that he wants Pooja in return. Pooja, misreading Krishna’s motives, fears that he intends to take advantage of her, leading him to deliver a sharp rebuke and a clarifying slap. He insists that his actions were meant to demonstrate the depth of his feelings for her. After Deepak’s release, Deepak himself calls for Pooja to leave his home, and Master Chaban steps in to protect her, taking her into his care. He then travels to see Dharamdas Bajaj to learn that Dharamdas had burned a second letter, a detail that deepens the web of deception and loyalty surrounding the couple.
Chaban’s intervention leads Krishna to confront the tangled truth: he brings Pooja to Deepak and recounts how strongly she loves him, but Deepak remains unconvinced, unable to accept the story at face value. The emotional toll of the revelation culminates in a tragic act as Krishna shoots himself, dying in the intimate presence of Deepak and Pooja, leaving them to confront the consequences of desire, duty, and sacrifice.
