In the final act Varghese, now a haunted constable turned reluctant witness, returns to the ruined camp at Wayanad and finds a handful of survivors who have managed to crawl out of the fire‑filled night. He records each of their testimonies, insisting that every detail of the massacre – the police‑ordered baton charge, the Molotov‑laden huts, the killing of the kind‑hearted Thami and his dog, the child’s charred body, and the brutal murder of his mentor Basheer – be put on paper.

Armed with these statements, Varghese slips the dossier to a sympathetic High Court judge. The magistrate listens to his plain‑spoken account, sees the knife left by the army, and orders a forensic excavation of the forest clearing where the bodies were dumped. When the evidence is uncovered, the judge authorises an official inquiry that names DIG Keshavadas as the architect of the cover‑up and the man who ordered both Basheer’s death and the savage “neutralisation” of the protestors.
